What marks your book spot?

What are your current favourite bookmarks? My partner takes pride in his nicely crafted slim metal ones. Me? Any old library slip or corner of a paper napkin will do.

Once I stuck an elbow in a book while answering the phone and writing a few notes. Another time, at my sister's house, her big lazy dog was snoozing as usual, so I used one of his black floppy ears as a bookmark for a few minutes while I got some snacks from the kitchen. Of course, when I came back with the food, the dog with the hyper-sensitive nose sniffed the titbits, opened his eyes and -- "No! No! BoBo, don't get up!" -- lifted his gigantic head and of course his ear slid out of the book. Hmmf.

Yeah, I've bird-brained ideas like that.

Oh Argus, you've started updating your blog regularly already and I didn't know! (smacks head)

My books are always dogeared :( thank god, not literally, since I have 12 dogs. Particularly because mine are old rental books from rental shops, and they're usually dogeared to bits already.

You see, when I leave a proper bookmark, my husband annoyingly transfers it to another page to trick me, so I won't know what I'm reading anymore. With a dogear, at least I'll know where I left off.

Xeus - 12 dogs! You must drive your neighbours insane, ha ha :)

Argus - I use any bit of scrap paper I can find!

Hey, Grace. Glad to have made you smile. I think there are some of us who are unfussy and practical who simply use anything at hand.
For a while I was using a photo of a friend who had divorced; she had torn off the husband's side. So with her in a colourful dress holding a bouquet of tigerlilies and me in a baju kurung next to her smiling, we looked like we just got gaily married. ^_^

Xeus, I didn't want to 'disturb' you by telling you of my new posts 'coz I knew you were up to your ears in writing, rewriting and work. Maybe your cheeky hubby tried to iron out the dog ears in your books as well. ;-)
I will not dog-ear a book, and hate smelly old rental books (fussy in that way, oh dear).

T Hal, you're terribly practical, too. Do you have a romantic side, by the way? I know you take artistic photos of graveyards... ;-)
Xeus's dogs, although giants, are very quiet and sweet. They've their own 'apartment' in the house.

Spiffy, watch out when Xeus lets out one or two of them to greet you. They'll be so excited and one of them might 'kidnap' a wooden duck off Xeus's side table (so funny coz their ancestors retrieved real ducks).

Hee hee, TH, actually my 12 dogs are quieter than my neighbour's 3 dogs :)

Argus, I have 2 new puppies (6 weeks old) named Rufus and Classic and 1 new 4 month old named Fly. Very sweet. Very toylike with their beady eyes and soft fur. They nibble my toes while I'm writing.

Sorry, folks! I didn't realise the 'moderator' got turned on.

Xeus, oh so nice to have puppies in the house...
I greedily eye the cute, patient dogs tied up outside supermarkets here.

Spiffy, yes, you gotta meet Xeus's pups and puplike adult dogs. Sweet giants, they are.

Everyone's invited, everyone's invited, hee hee :) Rubs hands with glee in manner of axe murderer.

Xeus, remember what one reader said to you? "What's a nice woman like you doing writing these terrible things?" or something like that.

Don't worry, Spiffy (& others). At the most, the beloved might leash you to a tap. ;-)

Hahahah...y'all always crack me up. Xeus, u can rub ur hands, take out ur axe(or knife)..for me, anything just to see all 12 dogs of urs. heheh..;o)

Uhm, mostly I just use bookmarks? Got tons of them all over so I always have one handy.

(Okay, okay, I know I'm anal already...)

Kenny, I know I've lots of bookmarks too (somewhere in the house), but whenever I desperately need one, they seem to be hiding. Maybe they don't believe in existentialism.
